5-Minute Ministry Series

I created a devotional series many years ago while residing in the San Francisco Bay Area. Outside of regular church services, I engaged in Christian group leisure activities. Our social group needed little sermonettes that could be preached on the go and wouldn't interfere too much with our fun activities but would yet serve to remind us that we were a part of the church. I delivered these brief lectures before going white water rafting, celebrating New Year's Eve, seeing a movie, and doing other activities.

The guests and group leaders gave my devotions very positive feedback. I am now sharing these short devotionals and making them available for free: 

A Proper Understanding of Personal Identity: “I Am” Statements

After several years of helping people in recovery, I came to understand how guilt, shame, and wrong views of personal identity present a potent threat to bringing about transformation in individuals. Both men and women frequently feel so horrible about themselves and have such low self-esteem that it is difficult to change and eliminate negative behaviors or unhealthy habits.
When I deal with new recovery groups or aid individuals, I will devote the first few weeks to creating a deeper awareness of how God sees and loves His children. People in recovery can find a healthier starting point for their healing journeys by replacing a hurt and wounded self-image with an understanding of God's love for us.
The Materials
A collection of "I am" declarations from the Bible is included in the list that can be downloaded. These inspiring verses highlight the significance of sustaining a good self-image that appropriately conveys the inherent worth of every individual. This godly perspective on people (and on oneself) is crucial for overcoming shame and guilt structures that could otherwise impede the healing process.
